A Century-Old Company Becomes a Modern Success Story

CIG has been in business more than 113 years. Until a few years ago, they didn’t even have a marketing department because they saw no need for one. But after five years of flat sales, the company brought in a marketing expert. He took a look around and decided the company’s future lay online. He hired Shafer Media (which became part of SWG) to help conceptualize, design, develop and deploy that Web solution.

Less than three years later, we had built for CIG:

  • The Protector Network, a member services site designed to increase switching cost of policy owners and build brand loyalty;
  • LeadsCenter, a custom designed system for allocating leads among a network of independent agents (nobody had done that before) and for tracking leads through to conclusion;
  • a corporate site including a portal for their network of agents and a gateway for their policy owners to pay premiums online;
  • a state-of-the-art, one-of-a-kind real-time interactive selling site that puts them not only on a par with, but ahead of, the big players in the auto insurance industry.
